Open positions at the WKREC
The Western Kansas Research-Extension Center (WKREC) is seeking a Cropping Systems Agronomist to lead applied research and Extension focused on water-efficient cropping systems for dryland and limited-irrigation agriculture. This tenure-track position is part of a Kansas Water Institute cluster hire aimed at advancing resilient, water-smart farming across the High Plains.
The role will develop and evaluate crop rotations, alternative crops, soil and regenerative practices, and whole-system water strategies that help producers remain profitable as water supplies tighten. The successful candidate will work closely with producers, groundwater management districts, and industry partners—including in Northwest Kansas LEMAs—to translate research into real-world decisions on the farm.
